As I arrived early to work this morning, I had no idea what I was about witness -- hundreds of people were waiting outside Storyville's door - the majority of them overflowed onto Chimes Street. It was an absolute crazy sight to see. I obviously knew it was Black Friday, but knowing that we weren't Best Buy or Wal-Mart, I knew we wouldn't have to open at some ridiculous hour. I was wrong. One lady holding a thermos and a blanket in her hands pointed across the street where I saw a whole tent city.
I can't write long, because Lynn Austin can't keep up at the register by herself, but I was able to call Storyville New Orleans, and they said they're experiencing very similar situations. They told me they have actually declared today "Black and Gold Friday" due to all the Saints t-shirts they're selling. It's madness!
