Wednesday in Downtown Lafayette

Univeristy-of-Louisiana-Lafayette-Logo.jpgGreg Moser and I spent Wednesday afternoon in Lafayette, hanging out with Tom Brown, owner of Downtown T-Shirts.  Downtown T-Shirts is Lafayette's best and fast growing screen printing, embroidery and vinyl sign production service.

Tom gave us a tour of his shop, which is quite an impressive operation.  Tom prints everything from t-shirts to business cards to magnets to put on the side of your vehicle.

Tom also sent us back to Baton Rouge with his first screen printing press -- the same press that helped launch his thriving business.  Tom loaned his this press as well as some other equipment that should allow us to start printing some of our own designs in house.  This vertical integration comes at an ideal time for us, as we're focusing more and more on original designs.  If we are able to print them ourselves, we'll be able to meet demand faster and be able to produce more experimental designs.

While we were downtown, we also took a tour of University of Louisiana at Lafayette -- Home of the Rajin' Cajuns.  Somewhere down the line, we'd love to have a Storyville shop in Lafayette.  In the meanwhile, we're going to continue to recruit Lafayette designers and feature them in our existing shops and online at WearYourStory.com.
