Nayia Lockett, age 3, demands to model for Storyville

Yesterday, we had a very young visitor come into the Storyville Austin shop.  Nayia Lockett, who will turn four on January 4, 2009, walked around the shop and explored the stacks of t-shirts.

Nayia became particularly fond of the large computer monitor which cycles through various photos from recent model shoots.  She saw all the college students posing and playing around, and seemed to think it would be fun to model for Storyville.

Nayia seized the moment and took control of the situation.  In a soft but firm voice, Nayia instructed me to take her picture.  Here is the photo that I took.  I showed the pic to Naiya, and she responded by saying that her hair looked "pretty" and placed a special emphasis on the skillful arrangement of her barrettes, saying,  "they look pretty" too.

Nayia then told me to put it on the computer.  So I did that too.  Now, per Naiya's instructions, I am blogging about yesterday's events (Okay -- she didn't really tell me to blog about the impromptu photo shoot, but everything else is true.  Besides, given her seemingly fun-loving and assertive nature, I do not think that Nayia would mind too much being the subject of blog post).

So there you go, Nayia.  You are now officially a Storyville model.  Come see us in about 15 years and you can model some grown tees!
