is quickly becoming a force on the Austin music and entertainment scene.  The brainchild of producer/performer Whitney Roche (aka P. Whitty), Railyard Records is currently putting together the label's first album, which is expected to be released in early 2009

I was checking out Railyard Records on Facebook (go here to join their Facebook group).  Here's what they had to say for themselves:

Railyard Records was created in the fall of 2008 in an attempt to showcase local musicians and comedians from the Austin, Texas area. The first artist signed to Railyard Records was The Austin Tree Party (ATP), a duo consisting of two brothers from Austin, whose surreal lyrics contain prevalent themes of recreational marijuana usage, violence, and a strong love for nature, wildlife, ecology, and conservation. With diverse musical backgrounds ranging from Country & Western to Death Metal to Nerdcore to Jazz Funeral Processions, ATP's sound is notable for its influence and stoned aesthetic.

If you ever wanted to know what 2 Live Crew's "Me So H**ny" would sound like if it were mashed up with Dolly Parton's "Jolene", Railyard Record's next artist, Lady Ev, may provide just the sound you've been looking for. Her sexually charged raps laced with an undeniable West Texas Swagger have shocked audiences and caused considerable controversy at fairs and carnivals across the Lone Star State. Her sound remains wildly popular in Gentleman's clubs throughout Austin and her most recent single "Sheet Sauna" was unveiled in November at The Yellow Rose to a packed house of rabid fans.

Production is now underway for the label's first compilation album, tentatively titled "P. Whitty Presents... The Railyard", featuring tracks from the ATP, Lady Ev, Professor Flip, and more.
