Today is Veterans Day and Storyville sends out a special thanks to all its service men and women.  We're very proud of all of our veterans - especially our brother, Seth Harvey, who served as an Arabic linguist in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army and spent close to 2 years in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Here's what he had to say today.

Go Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

The past several years have made us all aware of the sacrifices our service members and their families make every day.  Those who choose to wear the uniform know that military life can be extraordinarily difficult, that it can mean years away from home and loved ones, in harsh and dangerous conditions.

It is a choice they are proud to make.  They are in service of an ideal, that they will help make our country safer and stronger.  They are giving years of their lives to ensure opportunities for all of us.

Just last week, we saw a level of citizen engagement unprecedented in recent decades. Republicans, Democrats, independents and folks from every imaginable ideology came out to exercise their right to choose the future of this country.  That freedom of choice, not just at the ballot box, but in all areas of our lives, is what makes our nation great.  It is why the men and women of our armed forces give up so much.

The greatest thanks you can offer any veteran is to take full advantage of the opportunities their sacrifice guarantees.  So get out there.  Be involved.  Do whatever you can to make a difference in your family, in your community, in our country. Make choices and take actions that will influence the lives of this and the next generation of veterans.
