Get ready for the fourth annual North Gate Fest Block Party...

Tonight, we're going to celebrate one of the best and most unique neighborhoods in Baton Rouge - Storyville Baton Rouge's home - the North Gates of LSU. Join the North Gate Merchants for one bad ass celebration that will include live music, delicious food and beer from the local merchants, a Fun Run through LSU's campus, and the Chimes Street Arts Market all right on Chimes Street.

So here's what's going on this today:

The Chimes Street Arts Market, which will include LSU students and local artists and artisans, will get kicking off around 4:00. You're not going to want to miss all this locally made goodness - here's just a preview -

Purple Monkey and Cartoonman will be at their live print booth, the Red Stick Roller Derby team will be on their wheels (be careful of them), Handmade at Homestead - amazing homemade soaps and scrubs, jewelry from Beatrix Bell and Julie Cornelius, photography by Joy Bruce, David Gallent, and Jared Normand, mixed media paintings by Alex Harvie and Christopher Smith, ceramics from LSU students including Morghan Gray and Amber Chambers plus Mallory Maynard, and lots more!  Think Global. Shop local.

The North Gate Fest Run will begin at 6:00 PM - it's a fun 2 mile run that will wind through our beautiful LSU campus. Registration begins at 4:30 - sign up at the Tiger District beforehand for early registration ($15). For more info (t-shirt and free food included for runners plus winner prizes!)-

John Madere Trio at 6:00 - 7:00
Bench Bar Boogie Band 7:00-9:00
Barisal Guns 9:00 - 11:00  - Storyville wants to give a special shot out to these guys who opened for Storyville's Grand Opening back in January 2007 - we're so excited that they'll be headling for North Gate Fest!

You can park in LSU's Kirby Smith Lot (Hart Lot) after 4:30 or in Tiger Manor.

You're not going to want to miss this free event...
