Sunday Afternoon in Audubon Zoo

Yesterday, I spent a majestic afternoon in Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.  The zoo was packed with thousands of Louisiana folk who were taking advantage of the San Diego-esque weather to see the elephants, gorillas, giraffes and even the white alligator.

I was accompanied by Miss Natalie Naquin during my zoo visit, and we kept a collective eye on the shirts that people were wearing.  We spotted a mother wearing Metro Three's "Red Beans & Rice" and a teenager sporting "Make Levees, Not War" (also by Metro Three).  We also saw lots of LSU-themed gear.  Geaux Tigers!

New Orleans has a long way to go before it can reach pre-Katrina standards (and this recession isn't helping!).  In some ways, the Crescent City will never be the same as it was prior to August 2005.  But at least on a Sunday in New Orleans' world-renowned Audubon Zoo, all was well and the City was back to be being its old, jubliant self.
